A phenomenon hit Watsons Bar last night.

It was a typical Oliva darts league night in Watsons Bar, with two of the leagues leading contenders coming head to head. Watsons the current league leaders were playing Magnums, last years outright winners, but something wasn’t quite right with the atmosphere amongst the teams. Hey don’t get me wrong here, everyone was smiling the beers were flowing, Magnums had taken the first two legs, Kevin was instilling intellectual conversation into Ritchie, Allan was walking around asking if the game of ‘Tig you’re It’ had finished but there was still the weird atmosphere in the place. I for one felt so relaxed I removed the cricket box I’d taken to wearing for the Magnum venues.
Then I spotted it, sitting stump in the corner a site that had never been seen before at an Oliva darts league night, the cause of the atmosphere, the reason everyone had that ‘I don’t believe this’ look on their face.

Pip drinking coffee at a darts match.
My attempts to take a covert photo of this phenomenon were partly thwarted by the hand of Mark who did not want other teams in the league to spot Magnums weakness.
Despite having to overcome a state of shock, Watson's battled through to win 5-4 on the night.

Bring back the old Pip.
PS. Our thoughts go out to Sally and the kids who have to cope with Pip returning home sober on a Thursday night.
